Description:

Lakshmi Basile, an award winning flamenco dancer also known by her stage name, "La Chimi". Here she is seen performing Carmen at at the El Palacio Andaluz theater in Seville, Spain. Born in the United States, Lakshmi studied dance throughout her childhood and in College. At age 20 she moved to Spain to further her flamenco studies. In 2011, she became the first non-Spanish artist to win an award in the prestigious flamenco contest, Concurso de las Minas de La Unión. She also received an award in the Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco e Córdoba.
